Anatomy Of Dismantling Air India

The Air India Employees and Engineers unions have played i into the hands of the management bygoing on a strike only three days after the worst ait ctash in which 158 paople were killed. It saeems that the issue of show cause notice to some union leadres was a deliberate provocation with aim to incite them to go on strike. The unions fail for that bait and went on a flash strike. Expectedly thre was a hue and cru from passengers. This was what the management wanted, because there aim is completely crush the powerful unions as a first step towars dismantling Air India and parcel it out to Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways, the two most favoured private airlines by the powers that be.
In fact the government should not run any hotels, airlines or other such hospitality business. This is the lagacy of the earlier era. The immediate need is to privatise all such enterprises. But in our preseht political culture of powe and patronage the privatisation ahs also become a source of enrichment for the ruling elites. Hence instead of privatising such enterprises and getting thousands of crores for government treasury, the ruling elite prefers to run down these enterprises and make them deliberatly unviable with a aim of ultimately prcelling them out to favourite industrial houses which give them kickbacks to the tune of hundreds of crores.
This seems to be a strategy devised by the ruling elite for Air India. They want to create a situation where the people will themselves start asking the government to close down the airline. The employees are falling into this trap set for them.
